16,533 attendees at the Rockstars Festival: The online marketing industry throws down with Tony Hawk, Udo Lindenberg and Jan Delay
Press release • February 29, 2016
The Online Marketing Rockstars Festival celebrated a brand new attendance record at the event held last Thursday and Friday. With 16,533 online marketing enthusiasts in attendance, the Rockstars Festival more than tripled in size compared to the previous year. Across two halls in the Hamburg Messe exhibition center, professionals from throughout the industry networked, showcased new products, discussed the latest industry developments and partied hard with celebs and rock stars, like Udo Lindenberg, Jan Delay and Olli Schulz. “We are blown away by the success of this year’s festival. We succeeded in bringing together the entire digital sector—marketing decision-makers, influential companies and self-made rock stars—all at a single event. The huge jump in attendance figures shows that the industry trusts us and that our decision to create this one-of-a-kind festival was the right one,” says Online Marketing Rockstars founder and event organizer Philipp Westermeyer.
Hamburg, February 29 – The national and international online marketing and media scene came together last week at the Online Marketing Rockstars Festival last Thursday and Friday in Hamburg, Germany. At the festival’s conference portion, speakers, such as skate legend Tony Hawk, NYU professor Scott Galloway and growth-hacker/US-online-marketing-expert Neil Patel, took the 180ft (60m) stage in front of the largest video wall in Europe. Seated at the on-stage bar were ex-soccer pro Christoph Metzelder (Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund), German-TV star Micky Beisenherz, star photographer Paul Ripke, asking the stud-studded speakers questions from the best seats in the house. The highlight of the day was a surprise performance by German music legends Udo Lindenberg and Jan Delay. Some 4,900 visitors attended the conference.
The festival closed with a bang in the form of a massive party, where German rockstars like Jan Delay and the Beatsteaks performed, as well as 90s legends Oli P. and Captain Jack.
When the festival opened on Thursday, not only were heavy hitters from around the digital world in attendance, like Google, Facebook, Ströer, Zalando and Adobe, but so were young and innovative startups, like Adjust, esome and Ingenious Technologies. A total of 136 exhibitors showcased their latest products on nearly 60k square feet to the 15,107 visitors in the Messe Hamburg exhibition hall.
In addition to the exhibitor stands, the Expo offered a packed program of side events. To keep visitors from being overwhelmed by the sheer number of exhibitors and the innumerable possibilities in the online marketing sector, visitors could take part in one of our many Guided Tours with industry professionals, like Florian Heinemann (ex-marketing chief of Rocket Internet) and Andre Alpar (one of Germany’s most-experienced SEO experts). The Expo Stage played host to talks and interviews with Instagram star Pamela Reif (1.9 million followers) and industry expert Florian Heinemann. Between the two halls, Richie Löffler, former German skate champ, and his team performed spectacular stunts in a skate park to the delight of the crown. The day ended with the Expo Party, where a variety of local musicians like Olli Schulz, Pohlmann and Mixwell performed.
Next year’s Rockstars Festival will return to the Hamburg Messe exhibition center on March 2 & 3, 2017.
